Hi, im looking for to get my first mountain bike and my budget is around £450-£500. I plan on using it for local dirt trails and some cycle paths.
I have found these two that i like really the sound of just wondering if you guys could provide any advice on what you think would be the better choice for me.

They are both 27.5 wheels but the vendetta has plus size wheels which i kinda like the idea of having more grip/stability. They are both on sale atm with the vendetta being £90 cheaper. Has anyone tried these bikes?

The voodoo is better specced forks and brakes. But it's kinda a step up price wise too. A better comparison would be the voodoo vs carrera kraken.

And the vendetta weighs in at 16kg which is pretty damn lardy for a hard tail.
And sram x4 gears ain't nothing to shout about, they are ok, ish. but are fragile, it didn't take me long to upgrade the shifters to x9 and the derailleur to x7 on my bike.

The weight might be attributed to cheap oem plus size tyres, but you don't really want to be spending £60 or more on a pair of lighter tyres on a brand new bike.

I'd look beyond the tyres at that budget and look at the overall spec of the bike.
  • Thanks guys for the responses. I think will go with the hoodoo as my first mountain bike.
