Which 9psd deraillieur with Shimano SL-M751 shifters ?

I recycled the rear mech for my (approx 2003) Marin Mount Vision a bit too eagerly after ordering a new Deore rear mech only to find it just shifts 7 of the 9 speeds. i.e. Doesn't move through enough of an arc to reach all the cogs.
Now I have no idea which rear mech to buy.
Doh!
The front shifters are Shimano SL-M751.
Is there a 'deraillieur --> shifter' lookup table anywhere?
Cheers.

What a plonker...
Note to self: Check limit screws when fitting rear mech.
Now fixed...
I did read an illuminating post on cyclinguk about sprocket pitch and shift ratio.0 -
There is no logical reason why your Deore mech won't shift to all 9 sprockets, sounds like a setup issue.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
