Guys, had a Praxis set up fitted to my Spesh Tarmac and it's recently developed a squeak. How long should these BB's last, and are they easy enough to swap over, if that's what's required?

  • I have never had a bb30 bike, but its pretty much a press fit variant.

You need a tool to "tap" out the bearing, and a press to install the new one.

Park tools has nice guides (including one on BB30 installation: http://www.parktool.com/blog/repair-hel ... -section-2)

I would also try taking the cranks out and just giving everything a good clean & re-greasing, for me at least that usually solves minor squeaking and creaking.

I have nearly 5K miles on my Praxxis BB30 conversion, and had no issues so far.
As suggested above, the cranks have been out a couple of times for a clean/re-grease. This was more a general servicing thing, rather than curing a problem.

presumably you mean the praxis b30 conversion bb?

in general bearing life depends on usage and maintenance, i'd expect years for most people

bear in mind, the praxis only expands to clamp on one side, it's still a pressfit on the other side, i.e. liable to creak/squeak if the bb shell isn't perfect or if there's no grease, if the frame is pf30 rather than bb30 there's an extra plastic sleeve on the praxis, added contact surfaces to generate noise

try removing, clean and grease (follow praxis instructions, see website), re-fit
