Help Needed - First non MTB

Currently looking at getting a new bike for weekend rides and maybe my short commute to work. Have only ever really had single speed jump bikes and mountain bikes in the past so new territory for me. Been looking mainly at hybrid bikes such as the B'Twin 520/540 and Pinnacle Lithium 4/5. Budget is between £400-600 and will be mainly used on either road or cycle tracks on a weekend. Just looking for some advice to point me in the right direction so i can get myself out this weekend.

    No suspension, 1x drive train and hydraulic disc brakes, drop bars are faster and better suited to group rides if you think thats the direction your weekend riding will take you.
    I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.
