sorry if this has been covered before but does anyone run a bit of sealant in a standard or latex tube in clinchers? if so what amount and what stuff is best, also is it worth using latex tubes over butyl?
cheers

just convert to tubeless, easy to do and not had a puncture since.
  • Great question. I just put 30mls of decathlon sealant in a standard butyl tube in a 25mm tyre and inflated it to 90 psi. Spun it arond. Stuck a pin in. Lots of air and sealant came out. tyre completely deflated. I re-inflated and rotated the wheel so puncture was at 6 o'clock. There was still no sign of the tiny hole sealing. Removed tyre and inner. lots of sealant had leaked out.
From this n=1 trial I concluded that this particular sealant didn't work in this tube. No idea why not. Hopefully someone will tell us the science.
If successful I was hoping to stick sealant in all my tubes but won't bother now.
