26" wheels on a 27.5" bike

I have a Meta 5.20 with a cracked frame ..... thinking of buying a new 120mm full susser and transferring the meta components on to a HT frame.
BUT .... the only decent available Hardtail frames that are relatively slack and take a 150mm 1 1/8" fork are 650b frames.
Other than lowering the bottom bracket by an inch-ish ... is there any reason I cant put 26" wheels on a frame designed for 27.5" as long its capable of taking QR ?

Nope, but with a modern slack frame having a lowish BB anyway, dropping it by an inch may be an issue.
Why not get a preloved frame to go with the preloved parts?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
