New bike purchase - HELP

Hi all,
Pretty much a novice in the world of cycling, but finally made the jump to buy a new bike (Specialized Crosstrail Sport 2017).
Upon riding it's great, and I'm slowly immersing myself into a daily routine.
However, I've noticed gears crunching from time to time, which also seems to have left scratches on the chainset.
Is this normal or is there something wrong with the setup of the bike? Any help or advice is much appreciated.

New bikes take a little bit of settling in - the bikeshop who sold it to you will normally do a 6 week service foc as they know the cables need tweaking.0

Cool - I do have a 6 week service to be booked in - my main concern is around the scratching on the inner chainset due to the chain going slack on occasions when changing gear.
However, appreciate the feedback - sounds as if I'm worrying to much at this stage...
Thanks!0
