I'm looking at getting a winter bike for the commute and the "Adventure" type looks interesting. I quite like the thought of mudguard/rack mounts, disk brakes and slightly wider tyres. Not overly bothered if it is carbon or Ali. Also quite intrigued by a 1x drivetrain.
My commute in the winter is no more than 25 miles each way and fairly flat. Does anyone own anything that they'd recommend?

Just bought a Felt F65x which is a couple of years old ex demo from my LBS, it has an alu frameset with carbon forks and Sram running gear. Only ridden it a few times but it is a right laugh especially off road. On road manors are good as well.
Will be my winter training bike with road tyres on and also used fro cross/off road stuff with different tyres thrown on (actually will have 2 sets of wheels with different tyres on to make it easier to switch between the 2)Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0 -
Not sure of your budget etc but I've just bought the Di2 version of the Dolan Ti ADX and couldn't be happier. Saw me comfortably through a 600km Audax 2 days after it arrived . They do both a 105 and standard Ultegra and also a large range of rim braked versions.

You could consider one of the Planet X London Road range. For example
http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXLDNRIV ... -road-bike
Has 1 x 11 SRAM drivetrain, hydraulic discs, rack and mudguard mounts and will take up to 40mm tyres.
Plenty of fans of the London Road if you want to trawl through this thread.

I had one a couple of years back that I really enjoyed but was persuaded to convert it to a flat bar for my grandson. Gave me an excuse to try something different.0 -
Have a look at the Boardman CX Team. Currently £1000 but Halfords regularly reduce them to £800 on top of which you can save 10% with a British Cycling membership.0

Sounds like a good plan.
Make sure they are hydro discs, stick with 1x options, and put some slicker (but no less wide) tyres on.0 -
You didn't mention your budget, loads of choice out there, depending on how adventurous you will want to get with the bike makes a difference.
I would want the bike to take 700c x 40mm tyres or 650b x 45mm. As an example something like this....
https://www.alpkit.com/sonder/bikes/son ... -hydraulic, other options are the Pinnacle Arkose, Cotic Escapade Road Plus (sub £2k for the full build)
More expensive options are the Kinesis Tripster ATR, Mason Bokeh, Niner Road Less Travelled and Shand Stoater.
If your adventure is wet roads and firetrack / bridleways, then most new disc brake bikes take wider tyres.
I'm going for the Cotic when they get extra stock options in September.
