Hi all,

Does anyone know whether the Ergonova bars have a gap through the bar to allow fully internal routing to the new Shimano bar-end junction box? I don't want to take my bike apart only to find out that they don't

Thanks all :)

    According to Wiggle http://www.wiggle.co.uk/3t-ergonova-tea ... handlebar/

Does this have internal cable routing?

  • Thanks - I had seen that, but I don't think it quite answers my question. The Q&A is from 2 years ago before the bar-end junction box was available.

The bars do have internal cable routing holes cut into them and they are therefore 'internal cable routing' bars. But of course, you don't normally have cables running down the drops to the bar ends, and some carbon handlebars have internal reinforcement in the shifter clamp areas. That may prevent cables running through all the way, but wouldn't otherwise affect internal cable routing for non-Di2/bar-end-junction setups.

To find if there are any blockages, couldn't you just pull the bar-end plug out and poke a piece of cable outer (or similar) down the bars and see how far you get?

  • Just in case anyone finds this question by searching, I have had it confirmed by 3T that all of their internal cable routing bars have clearance through the clamp area and are compatible with the bar-end junction.
  • I've just bought a set of 3T ergonova bars and I've spent some time trying to thread a cable past the shifter position without success. Tried suction, tried going in each direction, tried blunt ends, thin cable, thicker cable - no joy - any ideas?
