Shimano downtube adjusters

looking at kitting out my Mercian King of Mercia, and noticed Shimano do an downtube kit with two adjusters and another Durace kit which has a normal screw adjuster and a small lever on opposite side which is notched in set tolerances, I assume this is for the front mech, but what is the difference.

    The lever is actually for the rear mech. It makes it easier to make on the fly, repeatable tweaks. Both types will do the job, though I prefer the lever type.
