SRAM 11-36 Cassette Rival derailleur compatibility

Currently have Rival 22 50/34 with an 11-32 cassette.
At the moment I tend to only use the big ring on my commute (partly because I've struggled to get the front derailleur working reliably and consistently), and I'm tempted to move to 1x. If I did that, I most like the look of a 44t ring with an 11-36 cassette.
My rear mech is the SRAM Rival 22 Rear Derailleur - Mid cage WiFLi, according to the SRAM website the "Mid-cage derailleur works with cassettes up to 32 teeth".
In this SRAM compatibility PDF on the last page under 1x it says that both 11-32 and 11-36 cassettes can be used in 1x with a mid or long cage rear mech.
Does this mean my existing mech will be ok, or is it only referring to the medium cage SRAM Rival 1 Rear Derailleur.
Anyone using a medium cage Rival 22 rear mech with an 11-36 (in 1x or otherwise)?

Unfortunately it wont work, I tried myself with mine on a 11/34 trying to make a single ring commuter with what I had lying around, 32T is pretty much its limit.0

Thanks Step - I was chatting to a bike mechanic last night who thought it wouldn't work, but nice to hear from someone who's actually tried it!0

Just to clarify, the sram 1x RD is different to the 22 RD. You can use a 1x mid cage derailleur with an 11-36, you only need the long cage for the 10-42 casette with 1x. Obviously that means your 22 RD would not work but if you are switching to a whole 1x groupset then mid cage would be fine.0

Think I'm going to carry on with my 22 set up for a while longer. Will probably go to 44 x 11-32 at some later point.0
