Having been without a MTB for 6 years I'm looking to get another. I've decided on a hardtail and probably second hand. I cover a fair few miles on my road bike both for fitness and commuting. That said I'm not a fan of road cycling in the winter so looking to get back in to some trails when the weather turns.

I'm currently looking at a Scott Scale 760 (although none around me at the moment) or alternatively a Cube Attention SL 29. Both are a year old and I'd appreciate some thoughts from anyone who owns one?

There is a Cube local which I may try and have a look at.

I'm 6ft1 and c.90kgs and it will be used for trails, tracks and general riding i.e nothing too technical. Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks.

T.

Don't have either, but nit really relevant.

Much of a muchness, the cube has lightly nicer wheels, the Scott slightly nicer brakes, the Scott has a decent sized seatpost so getting a dropper later is easier, the 27.2 on the cube (with some setback) makes fitting a dropper a pain, so I'd err towards the Scott if I had that choice. (Plus I'm not a fan of the feel of 29er wheels, but that's very personal).
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    Rookie,

Thanks for taking the time to respond. It's now 2 : 1 in favour of the Cube with your support for the Scott vs 2 other views I've had. If the guy responds I will try and get down to atleast have a look at the Cube.

    Cheers.

Well Cube it is! Had a quick look and was content. Only managed a few miles so far and the 29s feel very different from my previous Felt but the frame fit felt good. It needs a bit of a service and then time to rack up some miles.
    Cheers.

I recently got a Cube Reaction GTC SL, most recommended the Scott Scale but felt mainly due to more tried and tested. I thought components was nicer on the Cube and better fork and lighter so I went for the Cube. No regrets.

29er wheels needs to get used to but now after 3-400miles I find it very easy to ride.

Upgrades starts this weekend going tubeless, getting help from this forum to go to 1x11 chainring and maybe with some saving up for carbon wheelset and seatpost for Christmas :-)
  • Mate of mine just got an Orange Crush 1x11 . He loves it. I used to have a Cube Acid a few years back. Loved it to bits, then it fell to bits.

No, front fork . I didn't bother trying to repair it. Just scrapped it.
