Hi I am looking to buy a bike with a 2015 boxxer rc fork. But the seller says the paint is worn off from one of the stanchions. Besides cosmetic deform is this bad for the forks. Should I still buy the bike. Thanks.

Don't touch them. Thats not paint, that's the low friction coating on the stanchions. Wear like that is a good sign that they've been running with no lube in the lowers and they're long overdue a service.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

The stanchions aren't painted, the lowers are, as RMSC says they now need an expensive repair.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

New stanchions, bushes and seals will probably cost £400ish just in parts.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
