fork paint worn?

Hi I am looking to buy a bike with a 2015 boxxer rc fork. But the seller says the paint is worn off from one of the stanchions. Besides cosmetic deform is this bad for the forks. Should I still buy the bike. Thanks.

Don't touch them. Thats not paint, that's the low friction coating on the stanchions. Wear like that is a good sign that they've been running with no lube in the lowers and they're long overdue a service.

The stanchions aren't painted, the lowers are, as RMSC says they now need an expensive repair.

New stanchions, bushes and seals will probably cost £400ish just in parts.
