Hi - Whilst I'm following a route on the map screen on my Garmin 520, it shows a bearing at the top that I don't need. I would rather use the space for more of the map, as sometimes I see turns too late.

Is it possible to get rid of it?

    Yes.
    RTFM.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Any clues?
I've been through every menu option twice! I can see the 'Guidance' option, but this would turn off turn by turn instructions which I want to keep.
