Giant bike dilema

Looking for some advice.  I have a Giant Defy advanced 2 2017 reserved with Giant pending their sale.  It is reserved on the basis of 20%.

However, other companies have started sales on giant bikes at only 12.5%, £1550.  Should this be the case with Giant i would be entitled to cancel with full refund.  In this scenario a 2016 Giant defy advanced pro 3 through another retailer would be the cheapest option, £1450. But this comes with SL1 giant wheels with only 24 spokes.  I weigh 112kgs and dropping slowly.  Whilst Giant say the wheels are rated to 130kgs (in the real world it shouldn't be that hard to do) i am concerned by low spoke count.  I would probably get custom wheels either through Strada or Hunt wheels at extra cost.

So is the 2016 advanced pro a worthy upgrade over the 2017 advanced? Both have 105 and hydraulic disc brakes.

The frames are the same, apart from the OD2 headstock, full composite OD2 fork steerer, bearings and stem on the Advance Pro bike. If the 24 spoke rear wheel count worries you, stick with the 2017 Advance 2 with the 28s and through axles. You can then source some 32/32 or 32/28 wheels and keep the O.E. wheels as a back up set.
