Not a newbie per se, but I have been away from road cycling for a few years. My, what a change in gear there is! 11 speed? Whaaat??!! 25mm tyres?! Ha ha, my bike was good in 2011, it's outdated now!
It's reassuring that the feeling on the road is the same, the sense of freedom and speed. Just need to get some miles done and shift some ballast.
Have a good one.

Welcome back! Yes tech is moving along at a rate of knots in cycling world!
But don't worry, as you probably know it's more about the legs and lungs rather than the vehicle...0 -

Ha ha, disc brakes, seriously?! So forks are going to need to be beefier to take that braking energy as will steerer tubes/headsets. So a chunkier or heavier bike up front. Well it's good to see innovation, and cycling is certainly one place where you can semi- realistically be able to buy the latest tech.
Indeed Middleringer, it is certainly about the legs and lungs (and head) and I now need to get that 17mph back to 20mph...0
