I have recently invested in a Brand-X Dropper seat post for my Vitus Sentier VRS

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/bran ... prod149024

The seat post has been installed, however after the first press of the remote the cable doesn't appear to return meaning the post will then continue to drop under my weight but can't for the life of me work out why! The seat post has a 'lever' underneath it which is effectively pulled down via cable to raise and lower the post, so it appears that the lever isn't strong enough to raise itself up and 'lock' the seat post in place.

is there a barrel adjuster on the bar lever to add more tension to the cable or loosen it off etc?

check the lever doesnt foul/catch on anything when its pressed as i had the same problem and found it was just catching on brake lever clamp stopping it from returning

Cheers for the replies, the lever is fine and returns to its original position but the cable doesn't if that makes any sense, ive still not got to the bottom of it but having taken the post off the cable doesn't move too freely when using my hand to move it back and forth from the the end

Have you tried removing the post and just moving the lever on the bottom of the post? Using just your fingers mine was barely moveable as the levers strength is so strong. Hope that makes sense.

Have you had a look at the cable outer/inner. It sounds like there could be alot of friction in the cables which is not noticeable when pressing the lever but is stopping the cable returning. Check for any kinks in the cable routing and also maybe consider a little bit of grease in the inner cable before threading it back through.

And if the barrel nut on the wire isn't I think 19mm from the end it's a but flaky too. Apart from that I've had mine for 7 months all ok.

It's all sorted, the instructions tell you to put the barrel nut onto the cable before feeding it through internal routing. However, the entrance and exit holes are too small to allow this so required me to take barell nut off causing the cable to fray with out me realizing. One loose wire within the cable caused friction and so it snagged. A new cable sorted it in 10 minutes
