Cube Attain Race Disc - worth the cash?

I'm in the market for a road bike through the cycle-to-work scheme. Has anyone got any thoughts on the Cube Attain Race Disc? It's currently on offer in my local bike shop for just under a £1000. I'm looking for a good solid first road bike that I can commute on roads, but equally take out on fast weekend rides with friends, and perhaps even a spot of light touring?

The basic model of this bike is a couple of hundred pounds cheaper but doesn't have hydraulic disc brakes nor through-axel wheels.

1) Is it worth paying the extra cash for the more expensive model?
2 Any general thoughts on this company - frame quality etc?

Any advice welcome!

  • I have the carbon version (quite a few posters here do - there's an owners thread might be worth reading) and love it.

Having now owned a bike with hydraulic discs I'd never go back to rim brakes. Your experience may differ of course.
  • Also worth pointing out most (all?) of the owners on that thread got our bikes for around £1k in last years sales. As Cube will be launching 2018 models soon it may be worth hanging on a bit to see if you could get a similar bargain...

Loving the carbon version I've had since May, clocked up ~630 miles despite barely using it during the last two weeks of gloom and rain!

Thanks, that's all really useful advice. I think it will be worth waiting for the end of season sale to really kick in as I'm sure there will be a lot of options around my price point. Glad you're all getting good use out of the bike.
