Gridiron 100

Thinking of doing this with a few mates

Anyone ridden it before? Any good? It's a bit of a trek for us (prob 2.5 hour drive) so super early start or an overnight stay beforehand, worth it?

Nice... I hope you know the difference between a randonnee and a sportive. In a nutshell, there will be no "arrow type" signage and there will be no timing chips. You will rely on a GPX file or a set of printed instructions to get to the control points.

As randonnees go, this one does not seem to be covered by Audax UK, but that doesn't mean anything of course, it can still be a brilliant ride

Thanks Yes i kind of like the idea that it's a bit more back to basics.

Consensus now is that we stay down the night before and have a bit of dinner and a few drinks so I don't need any more of an excuse than that. This is an old group of mates who live far and wide, we get together for a ride 3 or 4 times a year plus usually a weekend away if we can blag it.

This is a much more enjoyable event than the large sportives that run in the New Forest, I'd thoroughly recommend it. There are fewer riders and the route is excellent. The only "problem" is that it goes past some absolutely cracking pubs in Nomansland (The Lamb), Hamptworth ( The Cuckoo) and Frogham (The Foresters).
