This is one of the silliest threads I've come across.

Recognition at last Matthew, well done!, a justified honour :D

    He's right you know.
  • Did he go and smash up the solicitors office with a baseball bat?
  • As an avid reader of the Daily Mail/Express I know that it is virtually impossible to get banged up. We need to know what he did!

On the plus side it is like a holiday camp and he will be released after doing less than half of his sentence.

Apologies for old thread resurrection, but did this get resolved?

Thanks for resurrecting - I hadn't read this one (and would like to know the outcome too) - I was swithering about BC membership but this thread has convinced me and I joined today.

Is he really in prison? How do you know?

It would indeed be a good idea to know what happened. I still haven't joined BC, I should really.

    Hi all,

Firstly - my apologies for the slackness in updating this post - web access inside HMP is somewhat restricted

Secondly, no - I'm not in prison - and long may my freedom continue!! :D

To summarize the events since my last post:
    - A conversation was initiated - by one of the senior partners from the solicitors (who is also a very active cyclist) - upon the basis that he thought the outcome of the case was very unfair towards me, and it was agreed that if I were to remove/retract the multiple social-media/public comments I had posted about his frim of solicitors he would seek to have all possible costs/fees I might face waived, and the case would be closed.

I can confirm that as a result of several conversations between myself and this senior partner (whom I'm following on Strava), I have written confirmation that the case has been closed, and in no way will I be liable for any costs.

The outcome is that I'm out of pocket (for my bike repairs), and I have a cracked Garmin (no longer waterproof), and I was never compensated for my injuries - but I'll take that against being down £5k+

Thanks for all your help, support/comments - and if there's anything I can add/help to anybody else in a similar position as I was just ask.

    Cheers,

    Mike

Has anybody else here had an accident/injury claim discontinued literally days before it was due to go to court

Yes. For a motoring accident years ago. When I approached the solicitor and explained the scenario he seemed happy enough and positive. Back then it cost me £500 in fees. On the very day of the court case before we went in, he told me to plead guilty instead! I distinctly remember the solicitor sweating badly and looking uncomfortable.
Your mistake was to carry on cycling or rather record to Strava.

I wish people would be careful with their social media accounts. What you write can be taken out of context and used against you. I've seen this with a "joke" email at work.
You should consider having your security settings on maximum and not give anything away. Do people really need to know (or interested) about your knee on Strava?
    Dropped - by Solicitor!
I've never been dropped by a solicitor on a climb though.
