Hi newbie here. Were getting the family into biking so any help is welcome. First the wife. Rough ground but not severe trails.
I narrowed it down to two bikes for the wife.

I have no idea but am told both are good. Does any one bike stand out more than the other to people who know whats what,
many thanks.

Can't give you a comparison but I've a Diamondback sync 3 since last September and done over
a thousand off road miles on trails and forest trails no hard DH , never had a problem and
Still have a big smile every time I ride , would recommend the diamondback but it's how
Your wife feels on the bike that counts get her to try them.
    Whoops who did that!

They are very similar apart from the forks. The kraken has the newer xcr air fork, the diamond back is a lower end xct coil fork.

For light off-road, I wouldn't rule out the Voodoo Marasa, if an 18" or 20" frame fits.

~12Kg and I suspect you could lower that by ~0.5Kg by swapping tyres and possibly tubes. A lighter bike, which is suitable for the terrain intended to ride on, is far more likely to encourage a new cyclist to stick with it IMO.
These were £320 before 10% British Cycling membership discount a week or two ago.

Or for something that could cope with far rougher terrain, it's hard to look past a Voodoo Bizango at £500 before BC discount, plus they do have a 16" frame option (which might be more suitable).

Thanks for the replies....for feedback I got the Voodoo Bizango and she got the Carrera vengeance. For her this will be more than enough for now. Many thanks again.
