Is the Carrera Kraken worth buying for £360?
Is it the best for its price?
I am looking for something between that range and the kraken looks promising.
I saw the bikes suggested and I didnt like it
the kind of bike I am looking for is something like the carrera kraken, something to hit the trails as well as for standard transportation
And I have also checked second hand sales; nothing too great there either

The Kraken is pretty well specced for the money, certainly nothing stands out as being a better offer right now.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

If the Scott aspect is this https://www.tredz.co.uk/.Scott-Aspect-760-27-5-Mountain-Bike-2017-Hardtail-MTB_96085.htm?sku=340290&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google_shopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuNPmj_if1QIVSbHtCh0tIQDhEAQYASABEgJubvD_BwE#
The kraken has slightly better forks and drive chain.
Same for the giant if it's this, and it doesn't even have hydraulic brakes https://www.rutlandcycling.com/372051/products/giant-atx-2-2017-hardtail-mountain-bike-black.aspx?origin=pla&kwd=¤cy=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI6J-a-vmf1QIVzbDtCh1CTgVGEAQYAiABEgK9IPD_BwE
Bantu is a contender but it's got a slightly worse fork than the kraken and it's £450, the kraken is currently on offer at £360.
Kraken wins on price and spec. Can't say I'm keen on the red paint job but it looks to be the better buy.0 -

Thanks the information Ill be going for the Kraken0 -
The Scott is pretty nasty.
7 speed rear probably means a much inferior spin on freewheel not a freehub, the fork is an XCT and the Suntour range is XCT then M then R in the XC range, the latest XCR also has bigger stanchions making it much stiffer, drivetrain and brakes are not as good either, it's trading on the brand.
The same applies pretty much to the Giant which also resorts to steel handlebars (Uck).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Just to add, looking at this video, the xtr forks look to be the newer ones, with adjustable damping and an air spring rather than a coil spring, which is much more preferable on a budget fork. The colour looks a lot nicer in the video too than on Halfords website.

I have the fury which has the same frame, wheels and tyres. It's holding up pretty well and is useful (On flatter trails at Swinley I regularly get the best time of the day on Strava).
That said, can get a better trail ready bike if you went with the Laura Trott which I think is £350 at the moment. Has Similar components to the fury (Raidon air fork and SRAM NX 1 x 11). The drawbacks being it's a 'ladies' bike but a saddle change and some stickers from eBay would change that.
Point of note. Low range 'big brand' bikes will almost always be under specced compared to independent bikes (Calibre, Vitus, Carrera). So personal opinion is to stick to these brands on a budget.0 -
You seem to have missed the 'sorry product not available right now' for the Trott.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
