Just a recommendation for those maybe looking to do their first Alpine Sportive but not wanting to do the Marmotte or the Etape du tour.
I have just done this one for the second time. For the princely sum of £35, you get a cycle top(different every year), foodstops that rival a London West End Deli and all junctions, roundabouts etc manned so you don't have to stop. Very well organised. The routes change slightly every year but always start in Cluses and end up at the top of the climb to the ski resort Les Carroz. The JPP is John Pierre Papin the 1991 European footballer of the year.
Cluses is less than an hour from Geneva so could be done easily in a weekend. Cluses is also very close to the following major tour climbs, Col de Joux Plan, Col de Ramaz and the Col de Colombier. Cluses is quite a big town but you can easily stay in Les Gets or Samoens if you have a car.
