Full suss MTB for a woman

I'm looking to buy a full suss MTB to upgrade from my current hardtail.
Is there anything decent on the market for up to £1500?
I'm a woman but not small (5 foot 7) so not sure I need a woman's bike specifically?
Type of riding I do is trail centres and forests etc - the most difficult riding I do is something like the red trails at somewhere like Afan / Glentress. Riding is mainly cross-country so I want something that's good for uphill as well as downhill.
Thanks

I ride with loads of women, most of them better/faster/bigger balls than me, and none ride womens' bikes.
I'd look for something around 120mm, maybe 29er.I don't do smileys.
