Will this be ok?

Hey Peeps,

Got new marathon plus tyres for my bike. Noticed that one of the tyres on the inside had a slight tear in it. perhaps about an inch. I have fitted the tyres on, pumped it up and the tyre becomes slightly bent. when you spin the wheel you can see where the tyre bends and then goes straight. I've been out riding for about 4 miles to test it and it seemed fine. just worried about a blowout.

can you guys let me know if it would be ok?

If a brand new tyre had an obvious tear/flaw in it, I'd take it straight back rather than fit it and cross my fingers.

Not sure what you mean by a tear, but if the casing is split, it will probably cause a blowout as just the rubber will be holding the tube/pressure in.

    I wouldn't ride it.

best exchange the tyre for a replacement, its not worth injuring yourself if the tyre did blowout.
  • hey guys, thanks for the replies. I contacted wiggle and they sent a replacement. hate it when you wait for something a while and then got to wait again for it to come through. thanks again :)
