Chain keeps getting stiff

First off, I'm pretty heavy weighing around 130kgs, and I only use my mountain bike on the road as a form of exercise.
My problem is ever since i changed my cogs (from a stock 7 spd to Shimano 8s-HG) my chain is always getting stiff. I just bought a new chain and it already got several stiff links after 20kms.
What I'm thinking is that my weight is too much for the chain (even though i never really had this problem before changing my cogs).
I haven't tried loosening the stiff links because i dont have the tools, but I just want to know if any of you have experienced any similar situation or if anyone knows what really is the cause of this.

Weight has nothing to do with the chain, which is?

Well, what i thought is that too much stress is being put to the rings (the spacer-like things on the chain) deforming it and making the links stiff. That's really just my guess

but if that's not the case, what could've been the problem? Are 5$ shimano 8s chains no good?

Five dollars sounds a bit on the cheap side, but then things in the US are always a bit cheaper for some reason.
There's not much to go wrong with a chain besides natural wear, and a lighter rider is probably going to be putting a similar loading on the chain anyway. Have you kept the chain cleaned and lubed? Have you ridden through any puddles of treacle?

if you are climbing out of the saddle then you are putting your weight into the cranks; when I was younger and fitter (but lighter), I manage to crush the rollers on a Sedis chain - probably a reflection on the quality of the chain as opposed to my super human strength.

a $5 chain doesn't sound like it is going to be top quality - try spending $6
