So I've fitted flat bars to my specialised allez elite and with it I used 2x10 shifters I already had. Changed the rear cassette to a 10 speed and expected everything to work fine as I was led to believe most 10 speed shifter units will work with any 10 speed rear mech and cassette.
Sadly not as I can't get it to index correctly no matter how many times I adjust cable tension, end points etc. Sooo my question is what shifter do I need to make it work ok...!

Shimano changed the cable pull actuation between road and MTB with the introduction of 10 speed MTB - if you have MTB shifters, best fit a matching rear mech as road won't work
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    As Monty said,

you need a 10 speed MTBike derailleur, a road one won't work
