Garmin Edge and Starva both uploading SAME EXACT data?

Aloha everyone

I have recently got a Garmin Edge, and I have synced it with Strava.

I always have strava on my iphone, and when I go out for a ride, I start recording.

Now that I have a Garmin Edge, can I stop using the Strava app on my phone?

I now have a DOUBLE set of rides whenever I check strava online, so I am assuming the Garmin will upload to starva the same data?

Will i miss any info if I use the Garmin only and save my phone's battery and turn off strava on my phone?

Thanks

Yes, stop using your phone and recording double distances.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

    Thanks for your reply..

I pay a monthly subscription to Strava...

Guess I need to keep that even if I am not using the phone any more?

    Thanks

You don't need to pay for Strava. The ordinary membership is free and enough for most of us.

    Hi Odessouky,

I have a Garmin 520 and Strava. All I do is ride with the Garmin on. When I finish the ride I press Save on the Garmin and this then syncs with Strava and uploads the data to my Strava account. You'll need to set this up by linking the two but this is straightforward from memory and means that you can save battery life on your phone.

OP has already synced his Garmin with Strava. Hence why he's got two records of each ride.

Depends. Premium offers additional features. If you want them, keep the subscription. Your ride will still upload to Starva if you don't renew your premium membership though.
