Cleat help

Right, before I launch the shoes down the Garden, throw the bike at the shed and bite the Mrs head off when she asks how's it going, can some one please tell me which of these shoes has the cleat installed correctly.
Just spent best part of an hour trying to clip in for the first time, I can randomly do it every 10 minutes.
When I take the shoe off it looks like the front lip goes in to deep so the rear bit won't then fit.
The cleats were installed by an lbs to the shoes and look to have the front part the right end, stupidly I'm trusting they got it right.
I've just unscrewed 1 shoe, turned the cleat over and off the bike it seems to work better.
I'm not known for patience with stuff that should work and doesn't so going to get a brew.
Help appreciated in advance

The one on the right is correct. The serrations facing up on the one on the left are designed to grip the sole of the shoe.0

Thank you.0

May I suggest never going to that LBS again?0

Hang on - you can't leave it like this. Just to be clear, which one of those cleats in the pic was installed by the LBS?0

Both shoes were installed with the cleats as they are on the left shoe, I took the righthand shoe off and turned the cleat over to try it.
Just jumped on the bike and rode around the lawn clipping in and out relatively easily, couple of close shaves with a rose bush and the dog but didnt fall over! Both are set as loose as possible, left i can unclip comfortably the right needs more practice.0 -

Still not clear. The shoe on the left of the pic (ie the shoe which goes on the right foot) has the cleat (incorrectly) installed flipped 180deg upside down, with the serrations facing out. Is that the one the shop fitted, or did you flip it like that?0 -
Yes cleats should be fitted so you can read what Shimano part they are. If you can't see that then it's wrong.
I'd not start riding round until you can unclip easily.
Lean on a wall or table and practice practice practice...0 -
The shoe on the left of the photo is how the cleats were installed by the LBS, the shoe on the right is where I had turned the cleat over to see if that .
Plan to have a practice then find some where quiet to ride round - tesco car park after hours looks good. The left seems natural, the right seems like im not able to twist the heel enough.0 -
ok - so the LBS did install the cleats correctly. In which case, everything else is down to your own personal setup (assuming you have now re-attached the cleat on the right shoe in the correct way).0

Sorry, have edited the post above to make it correct. The LBS did install the cleats the wrong way up.0
