Hi, got an old Suntour XCM Fork and want to fit a Manitou Marvel Fork instead. Brakes are Quad QM-5 mechanical and I don't know if they will fit these forks. The fittings are different on the 2 forks. Are there adapters that would allow these brakes to fit these forks?
thanks
Chris
thanks

Presumably the Suntour are IS and the Manitou post mount?
Depending on whether the brakes are IS or post mount, you'll need the right adapters.

If they are QMD look like post mount, so you might not need adapters, depending on rotor size.

Thanks for replies, the forks are IS but the brakes look like they'd fit post mount. But might still need an adapter or spacer as the lower mount point on the Manitou fork is short compared to the top. Presume these can be purchased too?

Depends on the rotor size. If you're using a 160mm diameter rotor, it will fit directly. If not, then yes, you will need an adaptor.0

Thanks All. . .Just need an adapter then. guess these easy enough to find. I wander if it is easy to get the right one? Any tips anyone?
cheers

Once again, it depends on the rotor size. Let us know what the rotor size is and we can help more easily.0

Are you sure? AFAIK Marvels are post mount and I would expect old Suntours to be IS, depending on how old old is.
Have a look at the pictures and you'll see that the lower mount is always shorter. It's normal.whyamihere wrote:Depends on the rotor size. If you're using a 160mm diameter rotor, it will fit directly. If not, then yes, you will need an adaptor.
A post mount brake and IS fork (or vice versa) will always need an adaptor.saladfunky wrote:Thanks All. . .Just need an adapter then. guess these easy enough to find. I wander if it is easy to get the right one? Any tips anyone?

Make sure you have your IS/post bits correct, and advise rotor size.I don't do smileys.

Could be. The last Manitous I had had canti mounts.
The OP is a bit vague.I don't do smileys.

I believe adapters are available to fit IS brakes to post mount forks and vice versa for all disc diameters.
The one exception is IS brake to post with 160mm rotor.0 -

It can be done with some IS calipers on some PM forks but some fork/brake combos won't work.
