Medical certificate for UCI amateur champs

I've just found out that I've got a place at the UCI champs after missing out narrowly at the qualifier, but then being offered one because not all of the original places have been allocated. I've signed up and just left blank the bit about medical certificate, but know that if I have a licence through an organisation that does not do medical exams (which, as a BC race licence holder, is the case for me) then I need to get a medical certificate. Does anybody else know if this is absolutely necessary and if so how did they get one? My GP surgery won't do them (although it is possible, they said, to make an exception in some circumstances). Any advice?
