If you're spending that much money, you really want to be test-riding both.

I know it's not answering your question, but (unless you already have a pit bike) you'll get more bang for your buck if you get 2 bikes for ~1k each.
    Pannier, 120rpm.

Nice bikes but a bit posh and over spec'd for racing. From experience I'd avoid 11 speed like the plague, stick with 9 or 10.
  • Any recommendations for lower priced race bikes?

I'm currently on a Alloy Nocro Threshold which is very heavy so I was looking at a lighter carbon bike.

I did think about Planet X, but I've had a couple of bad experiences with them in the past.

I've thought about 2 cheaper bikes, but most weekends I'm at races by myself and I don't feel that comfortable leaving bikes in the pits.

How much does the Threshold weigh? Seems like a more than decent base to me, how about upgrading to tubs and a lighter drivetrain?

Roughly 12kg. Which feels heavy on the shoulder.... :D

Although, I could probably do with some upper body strength work!

I see Evans still have a few 54cm Crocketts in last year colours. This is a superb race ready bike. I'd get two of those if I was in your shoes.

And spend the rest of the budget on some mud wheels.

Canyon Inflite might be worth a look - if only because Canyon is offering major discount off the second bike if you buy two.

The canti version at £925 is superb value, got no need for it but almost tempted :)

Just contacted Canyon and £400 off for 2 x Pro Race 8.

I've just picked up a Storck TIX comp from Vielo Sports for £1100 for the frame. Maybe worth looking at that? :
