ITV4 TdF competitions "on demand"

What's that message at the start of the on-demand episodes of the TdF highlights on ITV4 about? The one that tells you not to enter any competitions because it "may not count and you may still be charged".

Presumably if you enter before the deadline it still counts? Unless when you win they demand proof that you were watching the programme live? :D Seems odd that they discourage entries when it's perfectly apparent when watching when the deadline is..

I know these competitions are a mug's game, but a single entry is tempting as the Boardman looks quite nice.. ;-)

Aha! There's the problem right there. When you posted the Boardman had been replaced by a Ridley!

I think they're just covering their backs after taking people's money a few years back after a competition closed. Not TdF by the way, another program.

Yeah, Ant and Dec rings a bell. I suppose they don't know when you're watching so they're just making sure.
I'm left handed, if that matters.

Quite a few programmes got into a lot of trouble a while back when they were still encouraging people to call in on-air when the competition entries had actually been closed and the winner decided - so there was no chance of winning.

Yup, I hadn't watched that episode yet.. But I'd already entered for the Boardman a couple of days ago!

Seems to me that a more sensible message would be "You are watching on demand - please ensure that you do not enter any competitions unless the deadline, as stated in the programme, has not yet passed".

Or, please don't enter this competition if you are too stupid to understand the difference between live TV and catch up.

Paying £2 by paypal to enter a competition online seems wrong. I wonder how many people bother?

It costs £2 by text as well. The only way to enter for free is to use the post option.

It's a bit of a scam obviously - when you enter by text you immediately get a message inviting you to enter again (another £2), with an extra "free" entry (so three entries for £4).

I consider a single entry to be a form of entertainment - I'm paying £2 to have the mild excitement of thinking that I *might* win. Of course I won't..
