Mini V brakes?

I have a fairly basic CX bike for woods and so on, it is fitted with fairly cheap canti though I have fitted them with Salmon Kool stop pads, the braking is still fairly woeful, if not terrifying!

so Mini V's do they improve braking? and by how much? they are closer so will be at more at risk of clogging? but since A) don't race and b) braking is so woeful, that isn't a really to much of a issue I would hope.

They are slightly better yes, however you have to run the pads extraordinary close to the rim to get any lever feel and they are a nightmare to centre/adjust. Cloggage isn't an issue if your not racing, although depends which mini V's you use. Bog standard Tektro ones are only maybe 5-10mm off the top of the tyre, whereas as something like a TRP CX9 you get a good inch. If you were considering CX9's for the same price you could have the absolute pinnacle of cyclocross rim brakes though the Avid Shorty Ultimate - I can't recommend them highly enough.

    Hi Roger,
I've got a pair in the garage you can have. Only one pair for one wheel unfortunately. Don't think they are branded so may not be very good but worth trying perhaps.

Cheers sorry I think it would upset my OCD to have unlatching pairs!

on a separate note, thinking about a CX loop crossing ride london. any takers?
