Carbon chipped, how bad is it?
I have a mild squeaking noise that seems to be coming from my pedals and so I was going to remove them to clean and regrease them when I noticed this chip. I have no idea how long it's been there but my heart sank. Any idea how bad it is and what can be done about it? Thanks.

Just lacquer and paint, wouldn't worry about itleft the forum March 20230

Yeah, just looks like a chip in the paint - it's not a worrying looking crack, just missing paint.I'm left handed, if that matters.0

If you notice at the very bottom of the chip, there's a line there and I'm not sure but it feels kind of elevated rather than concave and looks threaded. It's completely different from the texture of the rest of the chip. Is this typically seen above the material that is exposed in the rest of the chip or underneath it?0

I would say it is more typically noticed by people who are fretting too much. Ride your bike, it is fine.0

Thanks all. It's my first carbon bike and I bought it second hand. No warranty and.. well, no money for another bike. Hence my fretting. I'm very relieved it's nothing serious. Gonna keep riding hard.0
