I did some looking while I was in NY a few years ago.
Waste of time. The prices are much better here.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

I think the exchange rates have screwed the bargain shopping in the states.

Even when the rate was better (6 years ago) we went shopping in Florida. Complete waste of an afternoon. There was almost no difference in the prices for branded sports gear (Nike, Adidas etc) and top end stuff had no difference (Oakley). I wanted new sunnies but gave up when I saw the prices. I got a much better deal a couple of years later in the Canaries.

Afterwards I gave it some thought. The holiday cost us about £7,000 so that's £500 per day or £250 per afternoon. We spend one afternoon wandering around an out of town mall which looked just like something you'd find in Manchester or Glasgow. To save the £250 it cost us for that afternoon we would have to spend a small fortune.

Holiday shopping - pah, forget it unless you are buying touristy local stuff.

    Apologies for the rant.

And if you're going on holiday to go shopping - you need to choose better holidays.. ;-)

And dont forget if something goes wrong -then you could have warranty issues. Wiggle price match - just use them at home and enjoy more of your holiday. Maybe buy yourself a local top or cap as a memory ?
