Quick query, im after some tyres for my late 70s 27x1 1/4 inch wheels. The inner tubes I bought are 700c by some metric size and i cant help thinking these are a bit wide for the rims. Tyre wise, does anyone know what size corresponds to this size wheel?
Ive seen Schwalbe and Conti Gatorskin in 700 x 25c, this seems to the common size for 27" wheels, can anyone confirm this or do I need special sized old skool tyres?
Many thanks, J

Inner tubes will work but not tyres. They are different sizes (not surprisingly)0

No i havent bought tyres yet, just wondering if the 700 x 25c will not fit, what will?
700 x 22c?
700 x 28c?
The rear one i have is Schwalbe, marked 27 x 1 1/4", but not easy to find this size0 -
no - all the 700's are the wrong size. Making them wider doesn't make them fit. You'll need a 27 inch tyre.
