    I'm loving Julian Wood's comments above -

"they are a nuisance and not wanted in our village. Maybe it's time that the parish council got involved and looked at ways of putting a stop to it"

I'd love to see how a parish council stop people cycling.

At least bikes don't leave piles of sh!t on the road...

If i was living nearer I'd be making a point of riding round there as much as possible.

I don't see the harm in horse poo tbh - they're more our allies than our rivals. Nobs in cars though - thats another thing.

The thing that always amazes me about these comments sections is that the people commenting seem to completely forget that motorists aren't perfect either.

Love the comment about the lie in as well, how many club runs do you know that start well before 7am????

I know of at least one group ride that will be regularly going past Julian Wood's house early on a Sunday morning from now onwards :lol:

LOL ! And the abuse comments - as far as I can tell - it's people talking to each other on the club run rather than abusing the general public. It's a bike club - not mods v rockers.

^ the complete lack of awareness about admitting speeding and taking photos while driving is fantastic.

Do they not get that if a cyclist hits anything - they'll come off a lot worse than a car - or even if they hit a pedestrian - they're going down too ? It's kind of important to not do this.

I've lost count of the number of LH door mirrors knocked off by cyclists in Cambridge that I've witnessed (and me not on the bike, I should add  ) - it must happen several times a day.

I do think people find peletons of cyclists difficult to deal with. I know that there are times when I'm thinking "come on, guys!" when a large group presents no realistic opportunity to pass safely and also gives no indication that they're even aware that you are there. In the same way that I'm likely to shout at RLJers for giving us all a bad name, I'd like these guys to think about the public perception that this gives.

I've never seen a wing mirror knocked off by a cyclist. A few by cars. Did they even stay on their bikes after that ? Maybe Cambridge is full of baseball bat waving maniac cyclists ?

Would the village be equally offended if 20 blokes in 20 cars came past one after another ? Much greater risk to life and polluting their air ?

You'd be surprised how easy it is. The last one I saw, near Goville Place, the cyclist stopped and picked up the mirror and handed it to the shocked motorist through his open window and then just rode off. Many door mirrors are designed to fold rearwards (like a mirror-to-mirror bash with an oncoming car) but are far less robust in folding forward.

Knob end pedestrians, knob end horse riders, knob end cyclists, knob end drivers.
The problem isn't too many cyclists. It is too many knob ends.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Ever notice that facebook contributors declare themselves to be the majority when they get others to agree with them. There will probably be a few hundred group members of which 95% have no view one way or the other whilst the dozen complainers designate themselves as the majority. I expect it's the same regardless of the topic.

    "Bloody cyclists on the road"
    "Bloody cyclists on the paths"
    "Bloody cyclists in the woods"
"Bloody waste of money cycle lanes"
I think all local groups are exactly the same - mine is also very intolerant of dogs, horses, children and thinks pretty much everything that's happened since 1950 is terrible and all the fault of the council/immigrants or both.

If every kind of 'slow' road user behaved on the road in such a way that minimised inconvenience to other road users whenever possible it would be much better, but so many don't. (That includes cyclists, horse riders, people transporting stuff, tractor drivers, drivers who just aren't sure where they are, slow drivers etc)

Instead these types are either preoccupied by their right to be there, or daydreaming and blissfully unaware of the effect they are having, or plain old thick and ignorant.

There's nothing that can be done though, and nothing will change.

What, like getting off the road?

    Excellent idea.

Surely it's an incovenience to have some boy racer in a corsa up your chuff when you're sticking to the speed limit ?

I think people just need to chill out a bit and don't act like knobs. Act like one and you should lose your licence. Simple.

    I see it like this.
If you don't like people dropping their children off at school, DON'T buy a house near a school.
If you don't lie children playing football DON'T buy a house near a park.
If you don't like noisy party goes leaving a pub DON'T buy a house near a pub
If you don't like cars revving their engines late at night DON'T buy a house near a 24 hour Supermarket
If you don't like people riding bicycles on roads DON'T use roads sell you car and just live in a field surrounded by fields.

Obviously a lot of people like that in Hungary. In all seriousness, the first time I went there, I was trying to figure out what was different about the rural houses. Then it struck me - almost none had drives and, yes, they'd be houses in fields with no road to them. A lot of cycle haters in Hungary
