Alpha everyone

So, my better half got me an edge 1000 for my bday...

I think it's great, but bloody confusing...

Can someone please point me in the direction of a thorough manual, or an exhaustive user guide that will help me use the maps and navigation?

I know there's a lot to learn with it, and it has potential, but it's my FIRST computer I've ever used.

Not fussed about all the cycling data it shows, what I need to learn is how to setup a ride, plan one, upload it to the device..etc

And then how to bloody use the thing when it's on the bike!!!!

:)

Thanks

DC Rainmaker on Youtube might be worth a look and there will no doubt be other videos of help there too. You'll need a Garmin connect account and the app on your phone too, create a course online and save it, then sync your Edge with your phone and it will upload to Edge.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

Sell it, buy a Wahoo Elemnt or Elemnt Bolt and with the left over cash, buy the other half something.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

I agree that it can be confusing if it is your first one. I am waiting for Apple to make a bike computer!

There are a number of ways to get your Edge sorted. RidewithGPS has fairly detailed advice and this site seems to be pretty good http://www.forgot.co.uk/garmin-edge-navigation/garmin-edge-1000/.

I find that ridewithgps is the easiest site to use to draw my route and the export options are good as well. if you only have the basic then export the ride as gpx to your computer.
