Hi guys,
Having had a bonus recently, im looking for a dropper post to go on a XC bike. Is there one that stands out above the rest but is not too expensive? I hear bad things about the Reverb but it seems to be on every bike I see. As pretty as the Fox and Thomson ones are, are they really worth the 100 extra squids?
Cheers
David

Got recommended a RSP Plummet. The bike mechanic I Was talking to was so fed up with his Reverb (on his fourth) he was going to buy one of these the next time the Reverb gave up.0

I run a reverb with a cable operated remote, its so much better than the hydraulic system. The fox transfer and the KS lev DX have the cable at the collar so it doesn't move when the seat goes up and down.0

You only see more bad stuff about the Reverb than anything else because there are so many more of them.
I've had two over the last four or five years with not a single issue. I've only done one bleed but that was simple enough.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Had my LEV for about a fortnight and cant fault it.
125mm drop external routed and suits me fine. Around 900g without the cable and leverBossnut - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13069531

Have been using an external Thomson since May 2014. It crunches slightly when fully compressed but otherwise it works as expected despite frequent intense neglect.
return speed can be modulated via the lever.
Not sure if I'd buy another one though £300+ is a bit salty0 -
I'm just going to by one of the brand x dropper posts off crc seems to get good reviews0

No need to be facetious cooldad!
Must admit, I cant comment on the longevity yet but the actuation and speed are good, and the install was fairly straight forward.
As said before though, there are so many reverbs out there, its no wonder you hear about so many failures...Bossnut - http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13069531

My Thomsons going strong after 4 / 5 years with minimal servicing (other than a new cable fitted each yr) so highly reccommend. Might be worth a look at the new Raceface one, friends got one and it looks pretty good for the money (it's exactly the same as the Easton one... think CRC had a sale recently??)0
