Hi,

I had a small crash (at speed of 0km/h).. and I noticed that the saddle post rotated a bit.

I took it out and noticed that there is small chip (part of it went along the carbon fibre line I think)

The saddle post still fells solid but I wanted to ask for your opinion..

the post wasn't tighten a lot (2nm) and it had some fibre gri[img][/img][img][/img]p on it.

I don't think that the post took a lot of impact (my wrist took most of it) but I am wondering whether the post is still safe to ride.. I might give it few rides and see whether there is a chip/crack.. Also I clamped it slightly higher so its not clamping much that are..

#clumsy :X

The chip itself is hardly worth bothering.

I've never seen such a poor finish on a carbon pipe, is this a chinese seatpost?

I think it's just surface delamination... looks safe to me...

Still terrible... the worst finish I have ever seen

Have to say, for something that needs to be round and fit a round hole that ridge doesn't fill me with confidence.

I will not comment on the quality of your seatpost but I would not worry about the damage. In my experience carbon seat posts are quite thick and very strong.

cheers guys :) I was planning soon to buy a new granfondo from bmc.. and you gave me a lot to think about - perhaps I will look in other direction i.e. canondale synapse/canyon endurace

I agree the seatpost looks poor, but Cannondale (I am far from a Cannondale hater) put the wrong size seatpost in the last Cannondale I bought, which caused the frame to need replacing.
By comparison, that BMC seatpost seems way better.

Grass is not always greener on the other side 8)
Seems more sensible to check the finish of the Granfondo seatpost before buying, than to jump out of the frying pan, perhaps into the fire

I would not be put off buying another Cannondale.

As above, its just a chip out the lacquer, nothing to worry about at all. Also as above that quality is dreadful, I have two sub £20 Chinese posts and they are both better made than that!
