I can't see a thread has been created for this yet? It's a great event, the 2nd time I'm doing it this year. Really can't wait, and the weather is looking promising again.
For anyone else doing it, who has a partner or loved ones in Cardiff for the day supporting:

My partner has taken it upon herself to arrange a discount at a coffee shop for anyone supporting riders. She has no affiliation to the coffee shop, just doing some good for others. She is struggling to get word out so please share amongst your local clubs if appropriate.

I did it yesterday for the first time and found the whole experience a bit underwhelming to be honest.
The feed station spacing was rather bizarre (nothing for the first 40m then three or four in quick succession). The route spent too much time on dual carriageways and there was a lack of organisation on the climbs whereby people walking up the Tumble weren't well managed except for the top where a lone Marshall was placed, doing his best. The RideLondon route was much better albeit much busier.0 -

I've done it last two years, but not this - I much preferred it to RideLondon.
I think with both, if you are going to ride the climbs, you need to get through early - when I have ridden up the Tumble and Caerphilly, I saw nobody walking either year.
To be fair to them, on a 140km ride, nobody needs a feed station earlier than Usk do they? The last one last year was on top of Caerphilly mountain which is about as close to the finish as anyone needs.
But that dual carriageway does feel like it goes on for ever.0 -
Also did this Sunday ...and as a 1st experience of closed roads, larger numbers of riders, the support along the way from spectators i enjoyed the ride immensely.
Myself and a freind started in Pen C and although it was a bit manic with the numbers on the road for the 1st 10-15k, it was great to get in a group moving along at a pace we could maintain.
Maybe we got to the feed stations earlier but found them to have a decent selection and we had no intention of hanging around longer than nessessry,
Thought it was well organised and supported....did see a couple of riders out with crashes hope they are ok and a speedy recovery if not.
Personally i cant wait to do it again next year, and hoping for similar weather as had it been wet I would have been very nervous with so many riders on wet roads ...never mind the descents..
as to the climbs also only saw a small number walking certainly not enough to cause anyone problems, possibly got to them earlier?0
