XT700 series 10 speed triple on a road bike.

Has anyone tried fitting XT triple to a road bike.
The aim is to use a 22/32/44 or 22/34/44 chainset with a 23 to 11 rear ultigra road set up to give a closer ratio set up.
Does anyone know if the two 10 speed set ups are compatible. If the chainring spacings are the same as the road version then I think the ultigra front changer will have the right pull rate to change the front end.
Can anyone help?

If the frame uses a braze-on mech then you may not be able to get the FD low enough for a 44t big chainring.0
