Can anyone recommend holiday travel insurance that includes cycling? I'm off to Majorca in a month on a family holiday and plan to get some miles in while I'm there.
The reason I'm asking is a club mate crashed in Majorca a couple of years ago and although he thought he was insured for cycling there was no pay payout for the medical care he received

I use specialist sports insurance. Dog Tag is one I've used in the past. There's lots to choose from.0

As Majorca is Spain wouldn't an EHIC take care of it?.'Hello to Jason Isaacs'0

Not if you need flying home on a medical plane....0

I always carry the EHIC card with me anyway but I'm not sure it covers much of the possible costs. I've cycled abroad loads of times previously without thinking about it but my club mate reckons his insurance covered cycling but there was lots of 'get outs' for them when he tried to claim0 -

Standard Virgin cover is very good and covers "cycling" but not "cycle touring" so you'll be fine unless panniered up. (They also cover basketball but not falconry).
Do not rely on EHIC. It only provides local emergency cover, if that, and will not fly you home. Current cost of medevac from Europe about £40,000, from USA about £60,000. ITU beds about £2k/day.0 -
I have been using Cover For You for the past few years.
£58 annual cover for a couple Ruby with extra cover.
£16 single trip for a couple, Emerald basic cover.
Both cover medical into millions and cycling, but not long distance touring. I may have chosen the Ruby cover as I was doing the Pyrenees last year with Marmot.
Disclaimer- Any insurance is only as good as when they cough up. I haven't had to make a claim. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Thanks for the suggestions all. I'm going to look into this at the weekend and make a point of reading the small print. If I do choose virgin cover I'll make sure to avoid any falconry activities!0

What if I want to combine cycling and falconry on my summer holiday?

I went with American Express travel insurance as it covered all cycling options (except racing etc...). It is pretty cheap and buying it via Top Cashback I saved 20%.0
