Turbo Training using a a bike with Disc Breaks ?

Perhaps an odd question but here goes.
I have been offered a TraxBlue turbo trainer with the axle. The advice from the mate who is offering it, is to purchase a second hand wheel with the same speed cassette so as to save my tyres. I have a road bike with disc breaks and so was wondering (given the difficulty in finding a cheap 9 speed 700c wheel with a disc) can I just use any old 700C wheel and use some form a spacer fitted to fill the space between the rear forks where the disc would sit ?
Cheers

How much is a whole wheel block tyre tube Vs just some extra wear on your tyre ?
Some turbos are no worse than road wear anyway. I'd really not bother. See how you go.0 -
brakes - not breaks, please.0
