I know it's a Mavic one, a round one thank you very much but not sure of anything else apart from that.

It was part of a job lot I bought.

622x13c
Is a bar code that has 50944850, I've checked that code with google but had no luck.
20 spokes, 10 each side.

Thanks.

  • Looks like a 2007 Mavic Cosmic Carbone rear rim:

    Thanks for that,

It's the rear because it has 20 spokes I take and the fronts have 16.

Do you know any way to test it to see if it's usable I don't really want to sale a rim that might be unsafe, is there's any tale tale signs with these rims?

Someone might buy it and do 70mph on it and it falls apart, would be a bad day.

afaik bar code is just a serial number, not product id

it's an alloy rim with a non-structural cf fairing, if the butt joint in the rim is good, brakes tracks not worn, and it's not cracked, bent, or corroded it should be ok

see page 6, you can check dimensions...

    COsmic.

The carbon is just a fairing, so as long as the alloy part is sound, the brake track is not worn and there are no cracks, it is safe to use

Yeah it matches the dimensions on page 6.

Any idea what it might be worth?

Thanks for your help, seems a bit more lively here on the road forum than the mountain bike one, just don't let them know I said that!

    tbh i doubt it's much

really for people who want a rear rim they can build to match an existing front, probably not many of those

I always build my MTB wheels, but they don't need to be as strict on the truing side of things, guess that's a professional job when it comes to these kinds of wheels that will be doing much higher speeds.

I'd be happy with anything, so will do an auction and see.

    Thanks

    It's an unfashionably narrow one.

I have a set 'broken' very disappointed in the quality of them, very difficult to spot the crack as it was inside the 'fairing' on the underside of the actual rim... check carefully.

Thanks for the information on their quality. I did give them a once over but I might have missed something, I even tried trapping the metal with the end of the screw driver, the handle end, to see if it sounded different anywhere.

    I've listed them on ebay

A little bit worried about the next owners safety, I have started I know very little about them so will send the winner a message and tell them to do their checks before they go ahead, I'd expect anyone building one of those wheels themselves will have a much better understand than me.
