Need one to ideally hold up to 3 bikes. Anyone got one they can recommend?

    Have you a tow Hook?

Not a Q5 but I drive a VW Touareg. I used to mount bikes on the roof, but got fed up with having to take a small set of steps long to make getting bikes on and off easier and safer. I recently fitted a removable towbar myself and had the electrics done by a local company so the reversing sensors switch off when fitted and the lights from the towbar mounted bike rack work. I went for a Thule Velo Compact 927 which takes 3 bikes as standard and can be extended to take a fourth if required. Folds up small enough to stick in the boot while you're out riding and has locking arms to prevent someone removing your bike without tools, it also tilts to allow access to the boot without having to remove bikes. Tredz seem to be the cheapest at £289. You do need to factor in the cost of the towbar and 7 pin electrics if you haven't already got a towbar.

I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.

No towbar on the car yet.

Does anyone know if there are any non-towbar options?

Given the height of the car you'll struggle without a step or a stool with roof mounting.

There are several very good websites which specialise in roof-racks, cycle carriers and tow bars.

    https://www.roofbox.co.uk/

    Plus the usual Thule stuff.

    Also look at Saris Bones.
