Editing route in Garmin Connect

OK - so I did a nice route at the weekend - but went off course a couple of times - nothing major - but a couple of dead ends that I'd rather not go down again.

So I've saved the activity as a course in Garmin Connect and thought I'd be able to delete a few data points on it and it would be fine.

If i try to delete the dead end data point - it deletes all of the route ? WTF ?

Why is nothing easy on Garmin Connect - and WHY do I keep buying Garmin ?

Anyone any ideas ?

Thanks

I'd just go wrong in more spectacular ways probably....

Anyhooo - i THINK I've managed to take care of the dead ends. You need to add a way point before and after you went wrong - on the route and only then can you delete the waypoint at the end of the dead end.

If you know the course you were supposed to go then use Bikehike or Plotaroute (others are available) save as a .gpx file and download it to your GPS.

RideWithGPS is so much nicer to use for routing.

Not sure why I still upload to Garmin Connect (or still buy Garmin for that matter) either. An irrational fear of that new fangled Strava thing I think.

Strava and RWGPS are both miles better for routing. Make the switch.

To the OP - yes, add "waypoints" and edit between them or by dragging a waypoint between two others.

Or just use a better tool!

RideWithGPS all the way! Connect is crap, then use Dynamic.watch to wirelessly sync route from RideWithGPS to Garmin Edge.

    Easy.
