Ok, bit of a stupid question regarding SA 3 speed triggers. I have one on a newly bought old 3 speed. Thing is i have to force the lever in and then up in one motion to engage 3rd gear. I'm guessing that it needs replacing?

Do you stop pedalling when you change gear?

Bike is stripped down at the minute, wasn't working when I bought it as the owner had wrongly adjusted the cable.

I know they are meant to change even when stood still, so was just testing the trigger and the only way it would move was by pushing it in and then sliding to 3.

Don't want to build it all up to find out the trigger needs replacing!
    Thanks for the help tho!

Clean and lubricate the shifter with a drop of oil.
