Having searched this forum where seem to be no end of posts about colour. There's not much about design though. Now having read up on bike upgrades, I find that helmets are a huge source of drag. I'm surprised this is doesn't come up much.

Search on aero and I think you'll find several threads from quite recentlyROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Fit is foremost. To see what helmet is best for you aerodynamically you really need to get tested. It's largely down to your position and how you ride. So what's great for one person may not work for you.
If you can't afford to test then just get one that's comfy and looks fairly slippy and don't worry about it. It's not a big deal to most of us.0 -
This was an almost interesting article that upset Giro:

Following a crash earlier this year I bought a replacement helmet for the one I smashed. It's a Kask Mojito and I wore it yesterday for the first time.
I've tried loads of helmets and this is by far the most comfortable, coolest (temperatures) and unobtrusive I've ever had. I also have a Protone which is more aero but the Mojito surprised me with it's comfort.0 -
I wear a lovely little cotton cap. It fits perfectly and has (mirabile dictu) an adjustable peak that can be raised or lowered according to the conditions.
In the winter I wear a woolly hat that covers the tops of my ears and wicks out the sweat while keeping my noggin nice and toasty.
Neither is very aerodynamic; this more a function of the shape of my head than of their design.
I hope I have helped.0 -
another Kask Mojito owner here .... best helmet I have ever worn, comfortable, light, doesn't look like a mushroom, don't over hear wearing it.
the only seeming downside is sometimes it takes me a couple of goes to get my shades on as the arms can get caught up on the helmet .. but not always0 -
and that was the problem for me, never played nice with my Radarlocks, I believe Sky used a different cage to accommodate their Oakleys.

I have two, A Specialized Prevail that I like a lot and a new MET Rival that I just picked up. The Specialized helmet is lighter and has more vents. The MET helmet feels bigger but looks cool. Both have the same safety raiting.0
